I'm glad I came home for the break! Last month's finals really made me feel like I've worn out my brain for all those sleepless nights studying for final exams and writing term papers. I so deserve this break. I don't even care if I'm far away from the beach. So what if I don't get a tan? It's going to wear off anyway...plus, going to the beach is overrated. I have to spend hard-earned money just so I can have fun. Okay i'll stop talking about that now before I sound envious.
It's so good to be back! I've only been away for an entire year, but I already feel like it's been years since I left my hometown for college. I'm glad to say that almost nothing changed. I've noticed how there are newly renovated buildings and newly-opened stores, but the people are still the same. I volunteered to buy the groceries to save my mom the trouble, and it felt so good. Like, I can't walk down the street without someone greeting me/ calling me. That's what I love about my town. We might be a small town, but people are really nice to each other. No matter how I've been away for a year, I still feel like I belong here.
It's that sense of belongingness that I couldn't find in the university. Right now I only have 3 trusted friends after an entire year. I guess I was just shoched at how rude/indifferent other people from different areas are. But at least I learned how to toughen up, or else people would've taken advantage of my good nature.
